Remodeling During Covid: Fall 2020 Update from the President

The last few months of living, and working, during the current Covid-19 pandemic have been interesting, to say the least.

As a business (and an industry) in Maine, we have been extremely fortunate to have construction deemed an essential service.  Keeping our projects rolling safely and effectively through these times has been a challenge that we have taken head on at Great Northern Builders. Remote communication with clients and staff, job site cleanliness, scheduling and planning and the overall assembly of goods, materials, and services through times of great uncertainty, have been anything but ‘business as usual’.  But it has definitely stimulated a heightened sense of the subtleties it takes to run a truly well managed project.  I have enjoyed meeting these challenges, have felt grateful to be working, and have been proud to keep a lot of really great co-workers, trade partners and suppliers rolling along with work during these times.

At home with my family, Covid has struck quite a chord, as well.  Like everyone, we have been spending a lot of time in and around our home. It has been essential to our happiness (and sanity) that we have had the space to stretch out and actually live life: a space to effectively work from home, room to get outside and stretch/relax/play, places to pursue hobbies and passions, from cooking to sewing to piano.  A well thought out home can provide so much to the people who live in it- these days it feels as though tapping that potential within our homes is more essential than ever. We love to help you create new spaces in your home.

What features is your home missing today that would bring you the added comfort and efficiency to survive and thrive during Covid-19?
