In The Community – Hot Summer Nights Returns

After a two year hiatus, the SoBo Central “Hot Summer Nights” music series thundered back to life with four superb shows. Hot Summer Nights is a free music series that takes place in the heart of downtown South Berwick. This event is popular with music lovers of all ages and from all walks of life. Len Bogh, Vice President of SoBo Central, was keen to get the event re-established and worked to build a new volunteer committee over the spring of 2021.

Reviving Hot Summer Nights was a personal goal for Len, he says “With the help of a strong committee we were able to bring summer music back to town this year. And with the help of generous local businesses – all four nights were free to attend.” Great Northern Builders sponsored one of the evenings.

Len says “What makes this series truly special, in my opinion, is providing a stage for our local kids who may be playing in front of a large audience for the first time. And they’re opening for some of the most talented professional musical acts based right here in the seacoast. It’s a great scene and I’m really proud of how it all came together this year.”

Opening musical acts included: Mae McDougald, a 2021 grad of Berwick Academy, Manu Ritchie of Eliot, and two Marshwood high school freshmen from South Berwick, Ella Bogh and Lainey Doran. The main acts for the series were The Reconstructed, The Jim Dozet Band,  Soggy Po’ Boys, and The Old Hat String Band. —
